I began my career in health care at Williamsburg Community Hospital, now Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, in 1979 as Assistant Controller. While there, I was able to exercise my understanding of accounting principles and finance.
As I became more familiar with the inner workings of Williamsburg Community Hospital, my drive to learn about how other hospitals were coping with many of the challenges we were facing grew. Eventually, this led me to Ernst & Young LLP where I was able to work with hospitals and health systems across the country. Initially, my responsibilities were with audit support. Consulting, as we know it today, was just beginning to take root within the accounting industry.
I have always had a knack for accounting, finance, health care, and continuous personal growth which led me to earn my CPA and MBA. So I got my CPA license and my MBA. My knowledge in the area of health care reimbursement and regulatory matters developed over time as I was able to serve clients and explore the issues they were facing whether those issues be inter-organizational or a source of changes by the government, external factors. I had responsibility in leading the Regulatory Service Line of the Health Sciences Advisory group.
After nearly 30 years at Ernst & Young LLP, I retired. I became a Director at Deloitte & Touche LLP. While at Deloitte & Touche LLP, I co-led the Middle of the Revenue Cycle practice.
In September 2012, I decided to embark on setting up an advisory services company – and so here we are as Becht Advisory Group LLC.
I established this company in order to continue providing advisory services to hospital and health care clients. Our industry experience coupled with our commitment to our clients makes us different from other advisory services providers. When you work with us, you will notice a different level of care and expertise. We will assist you in developing strategies to optimize your health care reimbursements.
In addition to healthcare reimbursement and regulatory matters, I have been fortunate to be involved in a wellness project – Blue Ocean Brain. You will find more information about Blue Ocean Brain using the links on our page, but briefly – it is an internet based application created for companies to promote brain fitness and wellness within their organization. Many companies have put physical wellness programs in place over the past few years and the goal of the creators of Blue Ocean Brain is to impart that same priority to brain wellness. “Better Thinking, Better Results, Good for Business”
